Summer vacations and farmyard friends

Currently I’m writing this ahead of a quick trip I’m taking to Las Vegas with some friends.

I don’t normally vacation in the summer as I’m really not a fan of the heat. While everyone else is outside, I prefer to stay in the chill AC, so even I surprised myself when I said yes to visiting one of the hottest places in the summer.

But I felt like I needed the get-away. Plus, it’s my birthday week, so I decided it would be fun to take a few days off. 🎉

As you’re reading this I’ll be trying to keep cool in a pool or casino somewhere, and I’ll be refreshed and ready to dive back into creating when I return!

👀 Trend Tracking

There’s been a surprising star showing up in recent design trends: geese. I’ve been seeing these charming farmyard friends everywhere, I think in part to the rise of cottagecore, nostalgia, and vintage-inspired aesthetics.

I’ve been seeing them pop up everywhere from children’s decor to pet accessories—and I couldn’t resist joining the fun. I recently designed some playful geese illustrations that tap into that cozy, whimsical vibe with a textured block-print feel.

Whether the trend sticks around or not, it’s been fun to experiment with this style!
